For this post I listened to ”まつり” by Fujii Kaze. I have been a casual listener of his for a few years now but I don't actively listen to his music nor know many songs. As a class we used "死ぬのがいいわ" for our skit and the other section of 1st year used this song for theirs and I found it very catchy and so I have been listening to it and decided to watch the music video.

It was very clear to me that I was able to understand many lyrics without needing to search fro an English translation, even on my first listen. Especially right before the chorus words like, 花まつり、なつまつり、あきまつり、ふゆ休み stood out a lot. Also something minor that stuck out to me was the line right before the chorus that translates to "Now, break open your closed heart, break open." The word that is translating to "break open" which is repeated is "あげら” which made me think of how "あげます” is to give which can be thought of the lyric figuratively meaning "give" your heart to me which would be a common lyric we see in songs that are sung in English. I thought it was cool to make that connection to what we have learned in class since the translation of the lyrics can sometimes leave out deeper or more clever meaning in songs.
