Blog 12: Last Post for the Semester!

This was my very first semester of Japanese in a college setting. Even though I've had a lot of exposure to the language and culture previously I was pretty nervous for the transition and I was worried that my skills wouldn't be on par. For me the class setting was very fun and easy to adjust to. I had the same Sensei all throughout high school but I found ふせ先生 to be phenomenal and he made this semester very enjoyable. The material was a mixture of review and new topics for me so I feel a lot better about my language skills than I had before. This was by far my favorite class this semester and I look forward to taking 1年生の日本語II next semester. Good luck on finals and have an amazing break!

Blog 9: Kyudo

 1. I don't exactly know what Ryudo is. I remember briefly learning about it in high school and I think it is some form of martial art.

2. I think just like anything else, becoming good at Ryudo probably takes a lot of patience and time commitment.

3. Something I would like to ask the guest kyudo teacher is if it is popular or if it ever was considered a popular "trend" in Japan.

Blog 9: Video

For this video blog assignment I watched a travel vlog. It is called "Another Side of Kyoto" the blogger traveled to Ohara, Miyama and Yokai Village. I found everything they visited very cute and I especially enjoyed when they visited Miyama's Village. It was very scenic and definitely a type of place that I was to visit when I go to Japan. I enjoy a busy city life but I also really like the outdoors and places that are just naturally beautiful. I also really liked seeing the Sanzen-in Temple. When I travel historic architecture is something that I look for when trying to find tourist-y things to do so seeing that in this vlog was something that I appreciated. Overall this vlog was very clam and entertaining. I really had a nice time watching it and would recommend watching if you have some free time!

Blog 7: Video

こんにちは!For this blog assignment I watched a video about things travelers should know before traveling to Japan. I decided to watch this because I really hope to at least visit Japan one day and since it will be such a new place I want to make sure that I'm at least a bit aware before I get there. Something that I found especially interesting is the rules about medication. Obviously a lot of them are a given because there are rules here in the US but even certain pain killers and common prescription medications are illegal to carry with you. This was surprising but I am also grateful that now I know it is something I have to consider before traveling to Japan. Overall I found this video super interesting and I am glad that I found it!
